The concept of orgonites is rooted in the research of Wilhelm Reich, an Austrian psychiatrist and psychoanalyst who, in the 1930s, researched and developed orgone technology."
Orgone is another word for Qi, Prana, Ether and Akasha represents a universal life-force believed to permeate all matter and is present in all of nature and the universe. While widely accepted in various traditions, its scientific recognition waned in the 19th century. However, 20th-century pioneers, notably Dr. Wilhelm Reich, reignited interest in this vital energy.
Pioneer Dr. Wilhelm Reich (1897–1957), an Austrian psychiatrist and psychoanalyst, introduced the term "orgone" and conducted extensive research into its properties and potential applications. His research into orgone energy paved the way for others.
Reich's exploration began with the study of bioelectricity. With a galvanometer he discovered that the skin exhibited electrical charges during pleasurable experiences, which he initially termed "bioelectric energy." His investigations led to the discovery of microscopic energy vesicles he named "bions," which emitted radiation capable of charging nearby objects. Recognizing this radiation as the same bioelectric energy, he redefined it as "orgone."
To harness and amplify orgone energy, Reich developed the orgone accumulator (ORAC), a device composed of alternating organic and inorganic layers designed to concentrate positive orgone energy. Preliminary experiments indicated potential health benefits, with cancer-afflicted mice demonstrating extended lifespans when exposed to the ORAC, compared to control groups. Encouraged by these findings, Reich extended his research to human subjects, exploring the therapeutic applications of orgone energy.
In the realm of atmospheric research, Reich produced the first cloudbuster, a device made out of hollow pipes which he found out was able to draw deadly orgone energy out of the atmosphere, restoring and balancing the weather. He also used it to control weather – as deadly orgone energy is removed, weather patterns become more balanced, which means that cloudbusters can either dissipate clouds or trigger rain, depending on what is needed in that particular environment.
Despite his groundbreaking work, Reich's endeavors attracted scrutiny from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Allegations of unapproved medical devices led to legal actions, resulting in the destruction of much of his research material and his imprisonment. Tragically, Reich passed away in prison in 1957.
Today, Wilhelm Reich's legacy endures, inspiring ongoing inquiry into orgone energy and its potential applications in holistic health and environmental studies.
Orgonite, as we recognize it today, was first developed by Austrian researcher Karl Hans Welz. In 1991, he refined Wilhelm Reich’s orgone accumulator by introducing a composite of metal shavings suspended in resin. Unlike the original ORAC, which gathered both positive orgone energy (POR) and stagnant or harmful energy, deadly orgone energy (DOR), Welz's orgone generator was designed to actively transform DOR into POR, promoting a more balanced energetic environment.
In the early 2000s, Don and Carol Croft further enhanced this formula by incorporating quartz crystals into the resin-metal blend. Quartz, known for its piezoelectric properties, amplifies and refines the energy, facilitating the transformation of DOR into beneficial orgone energy. Some suggest that orgonite without quartz may function purely as an accumulator over time, which could be counterproductive in areas with excessive DOR.
The Crofts also played a pivotal role in popularizing the orgonite gifting movement, a worldwide initiative aimed at distributing orgonite devices in areas affected by electromagnetic pollution and stagnant energy, further expanding the reach of this unique energy-balancing technology.
The ongoing fascination with orgonites reflects a growing interest in alternative energy practices and holistic wellness. While scientific validation remains a topic of debate, many users report personal benefits and enhanced vitality from integrating orgonites into their lives. As interest continues to grow, so does the innovation and artistry surrounding these unique creations.
